Founder / Operations
James Rooney
James Rooney is a seasoned construction professional with over 30 years of experience across five countries—Ireland, the UK, Spain, Canada, and the USA. His journey in the industry began humbly, working as a construction laborer to support himself through university. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying and construction management, laying the foundation for a career defined by versatility, deep technical knowledge, and leadership.
Throughout his career, James has worked across nearly every facet of construction—from concrete and carpentry to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as serving in engineering roles on-site. His hands-on experience, combined with a strong academic background, gives him a unique, all-encompassing understanding of how buildings are truly brought to life.
Over the course of a decade in New York City, James played a central role in delivering some of the city’s most complex and high-profile projects. With a portfolio ranging from $250,000 to $250 million, he has consistently demonstrated an ability to manage risk, deliver under pressure, and lead teams through some of the industry’s most challenging environments.
Today, James is the founder and driving force behind AZBUILT, his own construction firm, where he brings his decades of global experience, problem-solving mindset, and commitment to quality to every project. His career is a testament to hard work, expertise, and a lifelong passion for building.
Strategic Development
Anthony Rooney
With over 35 years of experience in the U.S. construction industry, Anthony has built a distinguished career spanning quantity surveying, cost estimation, project execution, and construction management. Rising through the ranks from technical roles to executive leadership, he has consistently delivered complex, high-value projects across various sectors.
Beginning as a quantity surveyor, he developed deep expertise in cost control, budget forecasting, and contract administration. His transition into estimation and project management showcased his strategic planning and problem-solving abilities, helping clients and companies maximize value and minimize risk. As a construction manager, he led multidisciplinary teams with a focus on safety, efficiency, and quality assurance.
Eventually assuming the role of General Manager, Anthony brought visionary leadership, operational excellence, and a client-first approach to every endeavor. Known for his integrity, industry knowledge, and ability to inspire teams, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the success of organizations and mentoring the next generation of construction professionals. A true leader in the industry, his legacy is marked by enduring partnerships, successful project delivery, and a commitment to raising standards in construction.

Edward Rooney
Edward brings over 20 years of hands-on and technical experience in the construction industry, spanning major civil infrastructure and complex building projects across multiple countries. Beginning his career as a construction laborer, Edward developed a practical understanding of the industry from the ground up—an experience that laid a solid foundation for his future in engineering and project estimation.
Driven by a passion for building, he earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, expanding his capabilities and opening doors to diverse roles across sectors and geographies. His journey through the construction field has included working on large-scale infrastructure, commercial developments, and high specification building projects.
Forging a successful path into construction estimation, Edward brings a rare blend of field knowledge and technical precision to one of the industry’s most critical functions. His deep understanding of how projects are built—from labor and logistics to materials and sequencing—makes him a highly effective and trusted estimator. Meet Willis and Monty—construction’s most dependable (and definitely furriest) duo. With years of combined experience in ruffing inspections, pawject management, and site fetch-nical analysis, these two dogs know how to dig deep and get the job done.
Willis, the no-nonsense forepaw-man, runs a tight leash—insisting on daily site walks, plenty of hydration breaks, and zero tolerance for squirrels on-site. Monty, the creative genius, handles the design details and is known for barking up brilliant ideas during planning meetings.
